From Raincliffe turn left to Throxenby Mere. Left up the steep bank into the wood and as the ground levels out bear right to follow the distinct path. Track eventually leaves the wood; crosses an open field before re-entering the wood. Ignore all other paths and go on to Check Point (G.R. 984.875)
On leaving the Check Point enter Forge Valley Woods and ignore the first path on the left go a further 175 yards into the woods and take the track up the hill to the left. At the top there is a bucket for your numbered disc.
Keep on this path you pass Osbourne Lodge on your left follow the path down to the road and turn left towards East Ayton. Turn right at the A170 and cross the bridge. Turn immediately right down Mill Lane and follow till it joins Yedmondale Road. Turn right. Check Point is on Castle Rise (G.R.988.848)
Go along Castle Rise into field with castle on your left. Straight ahead through gate into Forge Valley Woods Nature Reserve. Keep left and follow path through the wood until you come to an open field. Head for North Stile Cottage after which the track widens out to Cockrah Foot. Follow the metalled road through the village of Wrench Green to the Check Point (G.R.962 894)
Steep climb out of Wrench Green. At the top join main forest track, turn right and follow the road round to the Check Point at the viewpoint
Down forest road to Estell Lane (Troutsdale Road) then over stile directly opposite. Through the mud up the hill to yellow marker. Over stile and left straight through the gate marked horses etc. Ignore tracks to right and left go straight on to the yellow arrow marked Notice keep to path private woodland. Keep straight on to gates the farm is visible. Be sure to close all gates. Pass Backleys Farm on left on leaving the farm turn right at forest road which leads down to Darncombe and Check Point (G.R. 933 913)
Follow road through Darncombe to junction. Turn right to Langdale End and continue down road to bridge. Cross stile into field and a steep climb leads to a path, turn left to the road to Broxa. The C.P. is at the Foot Path sign.
Follow the Foot Path sign down lane behind the farm the path to take has no vehicle sign and goes directly down the hill. At the road turn left towards Lowdales, cross two footbridges past house on right and farm on the left 75yds further on the sign shows Silpho path up Turn left into Silpho.
Go right from Check Point and immediately past Binkley farm left through kissing gate to stile diagonally right in far corner of field. Go down bank and at the bottom follow line of trees/hedge through gate and small field to pass Thursley Cottage on your left. From the cottage go over stile and follow line of telegraph poles to sign for Coomboots. Turn left and follow path to metalled road. Go down road opposite to Check Point (G.R. 994 918)
Go through gate into field and follow path. Do not deviate from the path to prospect house farm Keep on the track to Scalby Village. At the junction turn left follow Scarborough Sign to the Cross Roads of Moor Lane, Red Scar Lane go up Red Scar Lane to Throxenby Mere. Go along the path in the woods look for self clip. Turn right and back to Raincliffe School.
