Keep to main track ignoring forks to right or left. As track reaches high point in small clearing ë to stile in wall. é up long narrow field to KG and path to road GR 501742 è 60m stile on left é SP LEIGHTON HALL.
At top of hill bear é in same direction to K.G. overlooking Leighton Hall take in view of Morecambe Bay and Leighton Moss. Downhill slightly right on grassy slope towards the hall and cross the cattle grid by tennis courts. é on metalled track pass farm buildings on the left. After track bends left è FP SP YEALAND STORRS. Follow track/path through fields keeping hedge on left to reach cottages on the left and road ahead GR 495761.
ç Take care on road around RH bend take FP at road junction é on good wide track to gate é 80m after track meets wall on left go through stile/ gate on left. ì down the field to KG in wall and ë to KG in corner. é through wood to meet boardwalk by lake è along boardwalk to KG. ç on good path. As path bends left è on FP to road.

Cross road to stile é on good track to stile by gate é across field to gate é wall on left. At tree è then ç to reach stone slab bridge. ë to gate/stile. ì between walls to gate/stile é to stile/road GR 474782. ç on road to junction è Storth Road to Hazelslack Farm. è FP SP FAIRY STEPS.

Cross 2 fields with wall on right to gate and é on rising track/path. At top of first limestone fissure bear left 5yds to waymark and é on rising path to reach the top of the Fairy Steps. Leave top of Fairy Steps on waymarked track compass bearing 60 degrees (Arnside Knott directly behind you). ç at track junction (large wooden gate on right) ignore left fork and cairn, é on track to road GR 484799.
è on road ç SP SANDSIDE/MILNTHORPE é (Do not take left FP) è at path junction to gate/stile on right. é on enclosed track bearing ë at track junction to reach lane. ç on narrow lane, 500m GR 485809.
ç at SP set back behind tree. Climb to top of field with wall on left to KG marked with pink arrow é SP HAVERBRACK/COCKSHOT LANE. Passing enclosed structure on your right descend on good path with fence on left for approx 200m. Take è on narrow path 20m to join good track with quarry on right. Follow track around perimeter of quarry and after large stone block the track doglegs ç and then è. At junction ç on waymarked track. è at track junction to road. ç at junction (THROUGHS LANE) for 500m ç SP BEETHAM,100m è SP HAZELSLACK.
Across field, wall on right to stile/gate é on enclosed track to gate/stile ì across field to reach gap in crosswall. é wall on right then slightly right and up to stile in wall. ë to gate/stile and road. GR 477789. Cross to stile ë across field to stile/gate near farmhouse. ë to stile, cross road to stile.
Rejoin here é through caravan site ignoring left and right forks in track. At gate ç wall on right to gate/stile è and immediately pass through another stile on your right. ç on path to stile, cross lane to stile SP ARNSIDE MOSS/BRIERY BANK. é across fields aiming slightly right of Arnside Knott to reach gate and footbridge. é on enclosed path to reach path junction just before railway. ç on enclosed path to reach road at substation.
ç to Checkpoint 2 (layby) — GR465781 (11.4 miles / 6.8 miles)
è on road over level crossing (cross road with care) to FP SP SILVERDALE ROAD and follow path as it rises through woods behind houses. At top of FP, take care to follow waymarks through houses to reach Silverdale Road. ç 100m along road passing cemetery, è onto path FP SP REDHILLS WOOD/ARNSIDE KNOTT and immediately ç on path running roughly parallel to road for 200m. Through gap in wall, è up hill, wall on right through gate SP ARNSIDE, ç up hill with wall and trees on left to path through gate near summit.
ì and follow main path to viewpoint on Arnside Knott ignoring all paths off to the left.
Descend é bearing 325° to track ç into car park to gate in far wall é on good path for 200m è at path junction and descend to gate. é to gate/stile. é on enclosed path to road, ç on road to caravan site and follow access track through site ignoring left fork near end of site. Follow FP SP FAR ARNSIDE, bear left at path junction to reach small gap in wall è on main coast path to next caravan site. Through site on metalled drive to exit site and é on lane to road. Cross to KG é FP SP SILVERDALE, wall on right and KG é across field to green metal gate. é on grass path into yet another caravan site and follow waymarks and FP signs to exit site at metal gate on road corner. CAUTION GR 456759 ç on road to junction and bear right on lane to shore.
Checkpoint 3 — GR 456755 (16.2 miles / 12.5 miles)
ë to reach enclosed path and é to KG. Across field to KG, across field to gate and road and ç on road.
At junction cross road and é 20m è FP SP WOODWELL to reach gap in wall SP BOTTOMS WOOD. Through gap and continue é to reach well. Keep well on left é to gap in wall.
é to FP é wall on right to road. è cross road ç through gate on right é 20m gate on left é on enclosed path ç through gate, across fields with wall on right to stile é and follow waymarks descending through wood to gate/stile. é to foot of descent and stile SP LANCS COASTAL WAY/CRAG FOOT. Follow embankment, over bridge ç on track to road. è on road. As road swings right, take left fork past phone box SP WARTON.
At top of climb ç on track, SP COACH ROAD/WARTON. Near foot of steep descent è on concessionary FP SP WARTON L.N.R. é following waymarks, ç at path junction wall on left to gap in wall. ë ignoring paths on ç and è to reach gate and road. ç 15m, è on footpath down field to KG.
é to road and é to road junction. Cross road and ç 50m è FP THE THOROUGHFARE. Through archway ç to stile. é wall/hedge on left to stile è, wall on right to field corner. Through gap in hedge and ç, hedge on left, through gap in cross hedge, é hedge on left to KG. é on enclosed path, ç at path junction. Follow this path between houses all the way to the road.
Cross road and é on Chapel Walk. Pass Warton Bowling Club on your right at end of track, bear right through stone gate posts on grass track, wall on left to gate. ì up field on grass track keeping trees just to your right. Track becomes enclosed. é to reach gate/stile on your right. Bear left across field and retrace your steps (CAUTION ON RD) back to Warton Cricket Club. (21.9 / 17.3 miles)
