Start: from Dacre & Hartwith Village Hall, Dacre Banks. SE198619
Proceed NE along B6451, cross B6165 and proceed uphill through village to 203625. Take BW ESE turning ENE to pass through highfield farm to minor road at 216625. North on minor road for 300 metres, then right on FP heading E then ENE past Brimham Hall to road at 22306305 Turn N 200 metres on Lane to bend at 223630 (Checkpoint 1) (FP does not exist on ground heading ENE from 22306305)
Take Nidderdale way E to 242634 then leave it by continuing E past High Hollins and then on FP heading E to meet Colber Lane at 257634 (Road alternative to this FP possible- decide on Recce). (Checkpoint 2 — first refreshment station here)
Continue briefly on minor Road to outskirts of Bishop Thornton 25956345. Turn left and proceed N 200 metres, the turn NE to pass Greenhill farm and join enclosed BW. Head N, pass church on your left, and continue on FP past Highfield house to join road near 262650. North 100 metres, then take minor road NE (Watergate Road) past Haddockstones, becoming Howhill Road to junction at 27806695. Turn right, (NE) along Whitcliffe Lane (pass Morcar Grange) which becomes BW at 290682 to meet Ripon Rowel Walk at 29556840. (Checkpoint 3 — second refreshment station here)
From here head N at first on Ripon Rowel, but soon turns sharply west, and then turn N down into the Skell valley. Follow Ripon Rowel west through valley of seven bridges, and through Studley Park, past Obelisk and on past Fountains Abbey visitor centre. Continue along R Rowel to Sawley (Checkpoint 4 Sawley Village Hall - sheltered checkpoint and main feeding station)
From Sawley continue W along Ripon Rowel, crossing B6265, and along North shore of Eavestone Lake to the village of Eavestone. At 223683 leave R Rowel and minor road, heading NE for 100 metres, to path fork. Take left fork, NW at first, veering more Northerly to Low Skelding Farm 222694. Head W 200metres, then N on minor road to T junction at 220699. Turn Right on road for 400 metres, then take FP on left, heading just west of due north to the edge of the wood skirting Lumley Moor reservoir. Turn left on FP passing around lake and across causeway in clockwise direction. At crossing of paths at 222711 take path left heading NW, turning NNW to meet Bridleway at 218714. Turn Left (now heading just south of due west) to reach Westhold Lane at 21407135. Turn Left (South) - now back on R Rowel - along Westhold lane to (Checkpoint 5 - refreshment station at 21607005)
Follow Ripon Rowel South to 214688. Leave R Rowel here, turning right, heading SW, then turning west to 210686. How take public access way south to road junction at 21256700. Cross B6265 and continue south on road to 21256615. Hear leaf road by turning right on BW to 20706605. Take FP South past North Pasture and into open access land to205652 to pick up access tracks through Brimnham Rocks (Checkpoint 6 and final refreshment station near visitor centre at Brimham Rocks)
Walk through Brimham Rocks estate to road at 209643. Here turn right (south) along road, straight on at crossroads, and on to 20656310, and turn left ( East- sweeping SSE) on FP to 20856280 (Entrants must avoid temptation to continue on along the road at 20656310- Hartwith Bank is steep, winding and dangerous for pedestirans from here to Summerbridge and must not be taken). Here fork right (SSW) to rejoin outward route at 206624. Turn right (East) and retrace route to start (Take care crossing B6165 in Summerbridge)
