Here keep right by fence (signed) to minor road left to y-junction & over stone stile on right of left-hand fork - cross 2 fields & diagonally up next field to gate to right of ruined barn cross lane to stile (signed "Fell Lane") & continue through fields aiming for distant tree (30°) continue in same general direction to cross Easegill to climb out onto Fell Lane (track) turn left & in 800yds right to follow signed path ("Skirwith") across-2 fields to road (B6255)
Follow signed ("Beezleys"' path on left through wall keeping on right side of quarry road cross fields to join track via stepping stones to Beezleys farm keep farm on left & continue up to road & through kissing gate opposite uphill in same direction to next farm where through gate out onto road/track continue straight ahead (ignore waterfall path sign to left) dropping to cross footbridge to reach road turn left along road & after 50yds right over ladder stile (signed "Turbury road") uphill on a bearing of 330° to ladder stile on horizon cross & continue on faint path still 330° through rocks to cairn then on bearing 280° to further cairn(s) turn to bearing 15° towards prominent group of trees on reaching wall turn right soon to turn left through metal gate in wall - follow & keeping to right of broken wall to pass trees to first beck (400 yds) now cross through broken wall & left downhill to further group of trees skirt on right [this is marble steps - have a look in but take care] then bear left to stile to left of gate turn k' down track soon becomes tarmac road & continue to Masongill fork right at telephone & in 100yds left through white gates into Barras (house).
Leave left & after 20yds right at Low Lane house down narrow track to cross stile into meld where diagonally right to go through gate continue straight ahead to cross stile on right in wall just before gate left & keep hedge on left to stile in bottom left corner then to stile opposite (50yds) cross field to gap in wall & join farm track to Ireby village cross bridge/stream & left on road & after 100 yds right up farm drive to farm keep buildings on left & through gate & diagonally left down field to walls stile cross road (A65) to take track opposite to Ireby hall farm enter farmyard & through white gate in far left-hand corner cross field & through gate to turn right along hedge when hedge ends continue in same direction to cross over white footbridge join farm track heading south & keep wall on left to gate bear left uphill to find gate in wall ahead then follow faint track to go through small wooden gate in next wall cross field to gate on right of farm right along track for 100yds then right through gate over hill & on brow cross through hawthorns head diagonally left to cross beck & wooden stile in hedge (50 yds from bottom left corner) keeping Gallober farm on right & cross stile in fence head towards distant church crossing six stile to reach houses & forward to road (A687) turn right & almost immediately left downhill (signed "Bentham") over bridge & upi-m.1, [uphill] to stile on left on sharp righthand bend (signposted but finger missing!) Cross field diagonally right to electric pole, over stile follow way markers over several stiles to minor road cross road & follow footpath sign up track for 400yds to stile (follow arrow) across field diagonally left over stile in fence to hedge corner drop left to gill bottom & over stile keep beck on left for 300 yds then through stile on left over beck & uphill with barn on right to stile in field corner cross next held to left-hand corner over stile & down-to-stone stile in wall on left - over stile ahead then diagonally right to stile by houses.
Turn right along road between houses to reach road (B6480) left along road to "Black Bull Hotel" where right (signed "Slaidburn") over railway & river bridges, then uphill for 400 yds after cottages take footpath on right signed "Mewith Lane" through gate at top of field to stile in wall bear right through farm to minor road follow footpath sign opposite across field & over stile to farm keep farm on left, through st= [stile] & over moor to trees Cross track (keep wall on right) to Great Stone of Fourstones where sharp left to road.
Leave down road for 800yds then take track on right to Fairfield house keep house on left & over gill east over moor towards Gruskham. Straight on at track for 400yds at right-hand bend over stile on left (no right of way straight ahead). Down field & through gate. From farm follow farm track to left then right up track to Millers Green turning right before buildings by yellow waymarker
Follow line of stream keeping it on left. (Keep high up bank) Cross stone bridge & uphill to mill dam to cross stream & through gate under electric pole after 100 yds left over stream then through gate on right follow track through gate ahead & cross field to stile in wall opposite cross field to right-hand corner & through gate on left after 30yds through gate on left & after 50yds over stile in wall cross field down to stream, then uphill & over stile in right-hand corner of field cross held to track where right to Mewith head hall through yard keeping hall on left then through gate on right-handside of stone wheels cross field & over stile in wall opposite cross field to barn, through gate & left-down track to road turn right for 800yds then left down farm road to Hammonhead leave farmyard by right-hand corner & down field (70°) to footbridge cross bridge then slightly left to take track up hill swinging right cross field to farm, then follow way mark sign to track follow track to Wenning side & enter farmyard leave by first gate on right (black gate) near black barn cross to field corner & through right-hand gate keep wall on left , over stile & cross field then through black gate by farm in 30 yds over stile on left & down field to road sign left at road to go under railway bridge & bearing right up road (signed "Clapham") cross road (A65) then right over footbridge & left along track pass New Inn on right & up road to
Turn right on road & in 10 yds cross footbridge on left then take footpath opposite (by "Riverside View") right at road, after 200 yds bear left, then left again at next junction after 300 yds take track on left (signed "bridleway") through gate ahead (ignore gate on right) keeping hedge on right through two gates up field to farm, keeping farm on left continue along track to road here left into Newby village diagonally right across village green to footpath sign ("Cold Cotes") & up track on left at end of track over stile & cross field diagonally right to wall stile diagonally right over next field to stile then keep wall on right to gate & stile bear right under power lines to gate & then down track to Cold Cotes left on road (800yds) & left at fork & after 300 yds through gate on right, (to keep barn on left) cross field & over stile in left-hand corner over hill to road cross road to caravan park & to road (A65) where right follow outward route by taking stile on right back to car park leave car park at information centre end turning left on road for 100 yds to Finish.
Leave checkpoint by turning right & retracing footsteps to road junction (telephone) turn right & in 150yds left (signed "Westgate farm") keeping to right of trees & over lane to stile up cross stream & up field keeping hedge on left to stile in right hand corner ahead through fields to farm through yard taking righthand of 2 gates cross stile & keeping wall on your left through 4 fields just before buildings ("Westgate") cross through wall by stile to continue in same direction over stile onto road crossing slightly right to further stile (signed "west view") ahead over another 4 fields keeping wall on left through yard at ruined farm & ahead over 2 more fields in second field bear right away from wall aiming to right of house through stile & along track to road turn right & in 100yds left to bear right to follow signed ("Ingleton") path down field then left at wall corner (barn to right) keep wall on left to go through trees & old railway to reach road left over bridge & right uphill to
Go forward into housing estate at junction turn left then almost immediately right to pass fire station on your right take next road to left & up to top where turn right to continue to main road go straight across to take footpath (signed "Ingleton") (basically your route back from here is at or about 30 ° mainly aiming slightly to the left of Ingleborough)- - bear left across field to stile in stone wall slightly to left of tree diagonally right across golf course to arrive at stile in stone wall (painted white) cross track & bear right across field to stile through line of hawthorn trees to drop down to stile in fence continue in same direction to cross stile half way along wall keep going in same direction to cross hill top at right end of broken wall now aim for far bottom right corner of field to cross stile in corner of wall/hedge cross road diagonally right to stile to right of gate continue in same direction to pass corner in-jutting field corner through gorse bushes & down to cross footbridge over stile ahead to resume previous direction to stile by white marker post continue in same direction aiming for pond (looks like a bare patch from a distance) cross stile in short piece of wall & down field with hedge on right over stile aiming to left of buildings ahead ("Foredales") over stile & turn left along farm track to reach road ahead to Ingleton (take care crossing A65 traffic travels very fast along this 30mph stretch!)
