Leave Hackness Village Hall, turn left to follow road to junction and bear left to Everley Hotel, past hotel and turn left after 200m onto a footpath to Scalby. Turn right into village.
Take the track out of Scalby at GR. 008903 to Prospect House Farm and on to Coomboots. Cross road on footpath leading to Beacon Brow Road. Cross road at Surgate Brow, into field and walk for 200m, then bear left to a track in the corner of the field leading to Reasty Bank car park.
Take the path to Viewpoint GR. 940947. In 200m turn right down to river, cross the footbridge, stay on path at side of the river and cross the ford at GR. 934957. Take the grass path up to High Langdale End.
Stay at the edge of the forest and re-enter at GR. 928949. Follow the footpath to School Farm.
From School Farm take the road to Red House and onto path to Blakey Topping, Enter Newgate Foot Farm, then on through gate. Turn right along fence and left along main track to farmyard and on to GR. 865934.
Stay at top of escarpment and descend at GR. 900918. Path now leads out of forest onto road to Langdale End. Turn right at GR. 944909, cross stepping stones onto track leading to Troutsdale Road. Turn right then left 100m on track leading to front entrance of Mount Misery.
Take footpath through Wood House Plantation and onto Comb Slack Farm. The road now leads to Wrench Green and Hackness Village Hall.
The 14 mile walk also starts at Hackness Village Hall. Follow the 27 mile route to Reasty Bank GR. 965945, take the forest path (path well marked) and head south through Whisper Dales and Low Dales, go due West to Broxa and then to Langdale Bridge. You now continue on the 27 mile route to Mount Misery.
The 20 mile walk follows the same route as the 27 mile walk but omitting Newgate Brow. After leaving School Farm take the forest drive / road directly to Bickley Forest.
