26 Mile Route Description

Leave hall to road; cross with care and turn left. After 500 yards turn right on to Viking way (vw). Follow track, past poultry farm, then clear field edge path; turn left at corner and ahead to road. Turn right and follow road to house; cross with care (fast traffic) onto signed track (vw). At hedge turn right and follow clear path with hedge on right. At field end, turn left, and continue with hedge on left, at bottom of field follow path round to right with hedge and bank on left. At field end descend bank and turn left, continue with hedge on left for 200 yards to field corner, turn right to track. Turn left and follow track ignoring all sides, to footbridge. CP1 TEALBY GR 157909 3.4 MILES

Leave CP on path on left, to road. Cross with care, Thro gate (vw) and follow to gate. Thro gate and ahead , aiming for stone building in distance. Ahead with hedge on left , over duckboards (ignore FP sign on left). At gateway, continue uphill to gate . Thro and follow clear path to field, bear 1/2 left passing pond on left to gate. Ahead with fence on your right to gate thro x track thro gate and ahead in same direction to top of hill aiming for right of wood, descend to gate and bridge cross ahead uphill bearing slightly left to gate(Deer). Ahead over 2 fields to church, leave church to track to road. Turn right then 1^st left. At crossroads turn right (Otby). Follow road to SELF CLIP A at sign for Otby House GR138929, Turn left. After bends, turn left (FP), thro gate and down hill, CB275° to gate. Thro gate, continue ahead with fence and ditch on right to footbridge (rotting timbers). Ahead to gate thro and continue to sleeper bridge, Cross and bear slightly right up bank ahead passing thro gate ahead buildings on left to T-Junction of paths, turn right, thro gate ,uphill hedge on your left thro gate and continue uphill before top, thro gate in hedge ,turn right and continue uphill with hedge on right to gate. Thro gate (back on vw) ,Follow clear path keeping boundary on right to Normanby Le Wold ,Pass church on right, ahead and follow road .At houses on right turn left (Claxby), After 100 yards take FP on right (vw), Cross field and ahead with hedge and wire fence on right to road . CP2 ACRE HOUSE GR 115969 9.6 MILES

Leave cp ,turn right along track to gate, Thro gate and turn left down valley (vw) . After 300 yards look for gate in hedge thro over duckboards thro 2^nd gate and continue with hedge and wire fence on left along valley to gate x 2 and wood. Follow waymarks uphill thro wood (ignore steps on right) to track. Follow track to junction, turn left down hill on concrete road to sign post and gate on right (vw), Thro and continue down valley with fence and ditch on left,to lake on left, continue past lake to track ,turn right (now off vw) continue uphill on track to gate thro and continue ahead on track to road (Caistor High Streert) ,Cross with care (fast traffic) and continue on bridleway with hedge on left to road. Leave cp and take road with phone box opp Blacksmiths Arms. Follow road for 1 ¹/₄ mile, Just after entrance to Thoresway Grange , on left, take bridleway on right . Follow field edge with hedge on left. Keep in same direction to road, cross road then uphill with hedge and fence on left, At top, go round small spinney and continue with hedge on left into valley. Turn right onto track and follow uphill. Where track bends sharp left ,straight on up short bank to road. Turn left then after 30 yards turn right onto track. Follow track straight on then slightly left with hedge on right to road . Turn right then 1^st left to Stainton Le Vale then just past seat to SELF CLIP C on left at FP signpost .Continue onto footpath, stream on left on short path. Thro KG (kissing gate) and ahead,fence and barns on left to HG (hand gate) . Thro and ahead to KG .Thro and ahead to footbridge. Cross footbridge and ahead with hedge on right thro KG with hedge and fence on left. At metal gate before farm turn right, keeping close to fence on left (rough and boggy ground) to footbridge, cross bridge and half right to KG, continue to another footbridge , cross footbridge then follow boardwalk across marshy ground (take care this may be submerged and muddy in places depending on weather conditions) , uphill to gate aim for large electricity pole at top of hill in hedge line. Thro hedge and across field towards red brick house on left in the distance ,CB108° to hedge. Thro hedge and ahead to electricity pole, then to stile, Over stile and across paddock to KG, beside small building with pointed roof,Thro KG and down drive with house on right, to road . CP4 BINBROOK GR 213939 21.1 miles

Leave cp, turn right on bridleway uphill. At top, straight on with hedge on left, then with wood on left. Continue in same direction keeping hedge on left to track and edge of wood , At track, cross half left then ahead with wood on right. At end of wood ahead cross field to road. Turn right and follow road to sharp right hand bend, leave road straight on to follow clear path with hedge on right. Turn right at waymark sign on left, follow with hedge on right to road. Turn left onto road and follow for ³/₄ mile to footpath sign and gateway on right. Thro gateway and follow field thro hedge onto path (aiming for right hand side of white house ) to track. Turn left and follow track to road. Turn right and follow road back , (cross left with care) to finish at hall.
