From start head right towards Bridlington and onto the North Promenade. At end of Promenade turn right up broad steps then straight ahead into Prince Street. At junction near McDonalds veer left into Queen Street. Yorkshire Bank on left. At next junction left into Bridge Street - Greenwoods on left. At T-Junction left again. 200 yards later is slope down to sea wall in front of Spa Royal Hall. Go down this slope. Keep the sea to the left, Spa Hall to right. Follow cliff top to South Shore Checkpoint 1 (GR 173 647).
A further 200 metres south before turning inland at cutting, over the stile and straight ahead down metal road. At first junction turn right and follow the road bearing left at fork to the A165. Take care crossing and follow signed footpath to Bessingby. On reaching Bessingby village, go straight ahead to junction with the A166, taking care again in crossing. Go right for 100 metres before turning left through gate up Butterfly Lane - follow lane to junction with Woldgate. Left on Woldgate to Checkpoint 2 (GR 137 669).
Then right down the Bridleway to Boynton Village and left onto a public pathway until meeting metalled road. Turn left along this road for 300 metres before turning right at the beck. Follow the beck (Gypsey Race) to Low Caythorpe Farm. Turn right through the farm, cross the road and take the path past the cottage and over typical Voids country to High Caythorpe and Checkpoint 3 (GR 115 699.)
Onwards past the farm to Foxcover Plantation which meets a metal road where you turn left towards Grindale. On entering village turn right at the signpost, past the church to the junction where you take the chalk road straight ahead. At the end of chalk road turn right and follow marked route across fields to the metalled road at Checkpoint 4 - North Dale Farm (GR 156 718).
Turn left up metal road to the junction with Al65. Cross carefully and take the lane opposite to Buckton Crossing then, still downhill to a T-Junction. Turn left then right at the duckpond into Hoddy Cow Lane. Bear right at the fork, over stile and upward to Bempton Cliffs. Follow the cliff top with the sea on your left until you reach Bird Sanctuary Checkpoint 5 (GR 197 742).
Onwards on cliff top to Checkpoints 6 at North Landing (GR 23 8720) and Checkpoint 7 at Lighthouse (GR 254 706).
Continue on clifftop to South Landing. Down the steps, across front of Lifeboat House and up the other side. Keep on clifftop, going down steps and up again at Danes Dyke. When you reach Sewerby follow waysigns from clifftop past Wallaby pens to the Ship Inn.
