Donny's Motorways Walk

1. From the village green walk towards Blaxton.

2. Turn right down Bell Butts Lane next to a farmyard.

3. Continue down the lane, passing two footpaths & turn left after a few hundred yards following the lane round the lagoons.

4. The lane now swings right to a small wood & from here bear slightly right with a hedge on your left following the lane through the wood.

5. The track ends & the path leads across a field to a railway level crossing.

6. On reaching the other side of the line turn right to the field corner & then left walking between a post & wire fence & a hedge.

7. Follow the fence until you come to a stile, here turn left & follow the track to a bridlegate & Hayfield Lane.

8. Cross the road & follow the track with the hedge on your left which leads through Hurst Plantation to bring you to a gate on the A638 road.

9. Turn left down the Great North Road towards Bawtry & continue until opposite the gate posts to Mount Pleasant Hotel. Here cross the road with care & take the path down the driveway turning left then right out to an open field.

10. Now bearing left aim for the gap between the two plantations & then head directly to a farm track.

11. Turn right & follow the track to Rossington past the edge of a pond & up towards the Church across the school playing fields.

12. From Rossington Church turn left along Station Road over the level crossing & once past the Station Hotel turn left down the dual carriageway, Grange Road.

13. At the end of the dual carriageway bear left slightly, down what is now Grange Lane, past the cemetery following the path round the pit heap.

14. Once over the River Torne continue along the metalled road to Wadworth.

15. When you arrive at Wadworth take a snicket at the left hand side of the Fox & Hounds public house up to the church yard.

16. Bearing right past the church carry straight on & then down the road with the playing fields on your left.

17. Just after the last house on the left you will see a field gate.

18. Go through the gate & continue straight ahead crossing a lane & then a large field aiming for a gap in the trees at Wadworth Wood.

19. When youreach the wood follow the track down to the bottom of the hill, you will notice Old Edlington Church in the distance.

20. At the end of this track turn right & go through the M18 underpass.
