Continue through Hollows Farmyard é on road then è to meet tr. keep è passing campsite to join riverside path. Bear ç (sp. Rosthwaite) following waymarks. Keep on main path ç at junction (sp. Rosthwaite).

Checkpoint 1 — GR. 258 148 (7.6 miles).
Immediately hard è through 2nd gate (footpath). Take vague path up field to stile. é on path X stream then broken wall. é and when wall comes into view bear è to gate in field corner.é to broad tr. (Optional deviation. Turn è and head up Castle Crag, a Wainright.) ç to soon fork ç at blue waymark sign X double footbridge then é through gate/stile. é in S. direction é at crossroads in path. Continue in same direction for 1km crossing 2 bridges, through 3 gates until you reach a double gate. Take ç gate sp. Seatoller. Keep ç downhill on main rough stony tr. passing through 2 gates. At right bend in tr. turn ç down steep, grassy bank continuing downhill on indistinct path through bracken to meet path by wall (a variety paths can be taken to meet lower path just keep downhill until you reach path and wall). ç then è through kissing gate into wood.é on fp. through 3 gates to Longthwaite Youth Hostel. GR. 255 142.
Over bridge fp. sp. Stonethwaite/Rosthwaite ç fp. sp. at Peathow Barn. Through gate é crossing 3 fields. Gate è then ç on tarmac road through Rosthwaite village.è at Yew Tree Farm é to Institute & public toilets.
Checkpoint 1 — GR. 258 148 (9.7 miles).
ç to Borrowdale road ç then è sp. Bridleway Stonethwaite/Watendlath. Over bridge then immediately ç sp. Watendlath and continue on good tr. for 1.6 miles to Watendlath.
ç to Borrowdale road ç then è sp. Bridleway Stonethwaite/Watendlath. Over bridge then immediately è sp. Stonethwaite 1 mile. Along narrow path é through 3 gates for 1.3km.
After 3rd gate continue for 230m then bear ç on indistinct fp. behind circular sheepfold. Continue following grassy path as it turns uphill (East) to wall stile. Follow steep path uphill into wood. é to stile ascending up path until you reach open fell (pause to admire view — Eagle Crag, Pike O' Stickle, Sergeant Crag, High Raise, Bessy Boot) é on fp.to stile é to Dock Tarn. Continue on fp. passing tarn on your right, level at first then slowly descending for 1.2km è at waymark sign Watendlath. Through new kissing gate follow fp through gates eventually reaching lakeshore. Continue through gate to turn ç through gate just before packhorse bridge. GR. 275 163.

è over bridge signed Keswick (on ground) ç through gate to wall on left. é on broad path through woods to road. ç taking care on road to Surprise View.
Checkpoint 2 — GR. 268 189 (15.1 miles long, 10.9 miles short).
Down road for ½ mile to X Ashness Bridge GR. 270 196. Immediately è (Barrow Beck on right) on path climbing to stile and gate.é then ç on obvious path for 1 mile to X stile in wall to summit cairn Walla Crag GR. 276 213. Bear è to stile in wall then ç to descend (keeping wall on left) through gate to X footbridge at Rakefoot Farm. ç on lane for 200m ç at hidden gate sp. Keswick, Great Wood descend X bridge è by stream. Gate é downhill passing mast. After sharp right bend ç descend by stream to gate. é through farmyard curve è over bridge. é down tarmac lane for approx. 250m. and opposite no. 11 ç on narrow tr. through kissing gate. At top of steps keep è through woods. At fork junction keep left on well defined path keeping left again at fence corner climbing to the summit of Castlehead. From view point return to fence corner ç pass wooden seat to road X ç then è down steps onto narrow path. é to boat landings near toilets. è on Lakeside Road, pass theatre and car park.
é subway è up Lake Road and ç at George Fishers to Moot Hall.
é through Keswick to X bridge over River Greta. é passing High Hill Garage. X road and ahead bearing right into minor road ahead ç into car park and è back to Sunday School room and finish.
